Remove seal (18) from
motor end drum hub (11)
and seal from gear end
drum hub (7).
Press one sleeve
bearing (19) from each
drum hub (7 and 11).

Remove retaining ring (20) from primary carrier
assembly (13).
Remove secondary sun gear (21).
Remove retaining ring (22).
b. Cleaning/Inspection.

Adhesives, solvents, and sealing compounds can burn easily, can give off harmful
vapors, and are harmful to skin and clothing. To avoid injury or death, keep away
from open fire and use in well-ventilated area. If adhesive, solvent, or sealing
compound gets on skin or clothing, wash immediately with soap and water.
Clean metal parts in dry cleaning solvent.
Inspect all machined surfaces for damage.
Inspect threaded parts for crossed or stripped threads.
Replace primary or secondary planetary carrier thrust washers if planetary gear end play is
0.040 in. (1.02 mm) or more. Thrust washers must not be re-used if thinner than 0.045 in.
(1.14 mm).
Replace sleeve bearings if inside diameter exceeds 4.552 in. (115.62 mm) or if deeply scored or
out-of-round.
Replace all damaged parts.
