M978 Tanker Maintenance Instructions (Cont)
WARNING
Before entering tank, be sure to read and
follow all safety precautions in FM 10-71.
Liquids and vapors in the M978 tanker are
flammable and may cause injury or death.

Install V14 pilot valve assembly (2) in
V10 bottom load valve (4).
(4)
Connect tube (5) and tighten nut (6).
c. Follow-on Maintenance.
(1)
Prepare tanker for operation
(TM 9-2320-279-10).
(2)
Perform bottom loading
(TM 9-2320-279-10).
(3)
Check that fuel flow stops when V12
bottom load PRECHECK VALVE is open
and continues when valve is closed
(TM 9-2320-279-10).
(4)
Install tank filler lid (para 16-49).
