(19) Remove preformed packing (37).
(20) Remove oil seal (38) and
bearing (39) from drum end (36).
b. Cleaning/Inspection.
WARNING
Adhesives, solvents, and sealing
compounds can burn easily, can give
off harmful vapors, and are harmful
to skin and clothing. To avoid injury
or death, keep away from open fire
and use in well-ventilated area. If
adhesive, solvent, or sealing compound
gets on skin or clothing, wash
immediately with soap and water.
(1) Clean all metal parts in dry cleaning solvent.
(2) Inspect each part for damage.
(3) Inspect bearings for grooves, pits, or cracks.
(4) Inspect gears for chipping, pitting, or wear.
(5) Replace damaged parts.
c. Assembly.
NOTE
Large slot in bearing faces down.
(1) Install bearing (1) and oil seal (2).
